Ratna
Overseas is part of Chopra Group of Companies which is a
family owned enterprise. Late Mr. Jai Dayal Mal Chopra & his
son Late Mr. BD Chopra established the flagship company of the group,
Jai Dayal Mal Chopra & Co in 1947 in New Delhi with the
business activity of recycling pre consumer domestic waste paper.
Mr. R.K. Chopra then took over the reins of the company and successfully
diversified into allied trading activities which included setting
up Ratna Vanijya in 1973, a company dealing in all grades
of Kraft Paper manufactured by leading Paper mills across the country.
In our group's constant efforts to go in for value addition business,
Ratna Overseas
was set up in 1981 with the objective of providing Imported Pulp
and Waste Paper to our valued customers that is the Paper Mills
in India. Today, we represent reputed suppliers across the globe
from countries such as USA, United Kingdom, Belgium, The Netherlands,
Germany, Middle East, Australia & New Zealand.
In 1983, another company Girija Papers (P) Ltd, now called JDC
Traders (P) Ltd. was set up to represent India's leading manufacturer
of Specialty Papers & Packaging Boards, ITC Ltd. (Paperboards
& Specialty Papers Division). This company has further diversified
into Plastics as in 2003 they have been appointed distributors for
BOPP Films manufactured by Jindal Polyester Ltd. which is again
a leader in its field. Further, this company has also recently ventured
into the field of Conversion under its division called JDC Converted
Products by foraying into Rotographic Printing.
In April 2004, our groups latest company is being set up under the
name Axis Stationery where it will endeavor to export quality
stationery products worldwide.
Today our group has offices and warehouses over 6 locations in India
and total business generated is USD 15million per annum. Our growth
year on year has witnessed a steady rise in our volumes and 2003
has seen a growth of more than 25% over previous year. Our projections
for 2004 should see our total business grow to USD 20million. Today,
the fourth generation, Mr. Sumeet Chopra is actively involved in
the business to ensure further strengthening and growth of the existing
business and implementation of the projects in the pipeline as per
visions of the group.
